The English and French short lists for the awards in fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, young people’s texts and work in translation were announced Oct. 6. Among the finalists: columnist in the non-fiction category for his book ; Winnipeg-born, U.
S.-based in the same category for ; and Winnipeg poet laureate for her debut collection along with Winnipeg-born, B.C.
-based for in the poetry category. (Additionally, Winnipeg artist ’s work appears in ’s , a finalist in the Young People’s Literature — Text category.) Each of the winners receives $25,000, with publishers receiving $3,000.
