The recently appointed MP for a Bolton constituency has become the charity patron for a local leisure centre. Phil Brickell , who is the MP for Bolton West and Atherton, will support Blackrod Sports and Community Centre. Many of the classes that are put on at the centre are fully funded and free of charge to local people.
Mr Brickell will support the centre, visiting it and the charities and sports groups that convene there. Ann Brooks Chair of Trustees of the Blackrod Sports and Community Centre Charity said “I warmly welcome our new MP Phil Brickell as the latest of our Charity Patrons. "Our Blackrod Sports and Community Centre has been run by local people for the benefit of our community for the last 7 years.
"We know that Phil has been to many events at the Centre before and has seen first-hand the excellent work we do for the local community providing Blackrod, Horwich and surrounding areas a comprehensive health and well being programme.
