Griffin native and local author Carol Griffin Fisher is donating copies of her newly released book to the Flint River Regional Library. Partnering with Trilogy Christian Publishing, a division of the Trinity Broadcast Network, her book “He Lights Our Way: Inspirational Poems of Hope, Joy, and Peace” will be available for checkout soon. When asked about her work, she explained, “I have always had a love of reading and of writing, especially in the area of poetry.

Three years ago during a case of Covid, I had difficulty sleeping. I would get up extremely early and have my devotional time. As I read from my Bible, ideas for poems began to emerge.

The scriptures became the source of my inspiration to write.” At first, Carol said she was reluctant to share her writings with others, but she gradually began to let her family and friends read the poems. Because of their encouragement, she decided to pursue having her work published.

“Poetry,” she explained, “isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But I love the lyrical flow of words that poetry provides. When someone says that they don’t care for poetry, I ask if they ever like to sing along with a favorite song.

If they do, they are enjoying poetry. To me, a song is just a poem that has found its perfect melody.” Her desire is that the poems she writes will offer encouragement to anyone who reads them.

Fisher will be participating in a local author expo sponsored by A Novel Experience in Zebulon from 5 p.m. until 7 p.
