A beautiful national anthem is being released to commemorate Gilgit-Baltistan’s freedom from Dogra rule on November 1. The anthem, performed by local artists Zeeshan Hamza and Hashmi, not only showcased the breathtaking landscapes of Gilgit-Baltistan but also highlights the bravery, culture, and traditions of its people. Through its powerful melodies, the anthem serves as a reminder of the region’s struggle against oppression, as the local population raised the banner of rebellion in pursuit of union with Pakistan.

This significant journey began on November 1, 1947 and culminated in the end of Dogra rule on August 14, 1948, when the Pakistani flag was first hoisted in the skies of Gilgit. With lyrics reflecting love for the homeland-“Our ancestors’ sacrifices will never go in vain; we hold the spirit of martyrdom; this passion is our treasure”-the anthem embodies the deep-rooted connection of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan to their heritage. This national song promotes a message of unity, love and peace, which is an integral part of the spirit of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
