The majority of his development, though, is taking place at the Academy. And his performance against Bayer Leverkusen was further evidence of how the 17-year-old midfielder continues to edge nearer more regular involvement with the first team.

In the opening 45 minutes in particular, Nyoni was the driving force for Liverpool, shouting orders from midfield and moving the team forward as they sought to fight back after going behind inside the opening five minutes. x No surprise, then, that it was Nyoni's drive into the box and subsequent pass that opened up the chance for Kieran Morrison to smash home a leveller. "It felt like Trey took the game by the scruff of the neck," says Barry Lewtas, the coach of the U19s side.



"I said to him after the game it felt like last season all over again. "All three of our midfielders did well, but he was the dominant player. Him and Kieran in the middle, we had two players where every time we got the ball it felt like something could happen.

Tactically and technically they were really good." Morrison's goal followed his hat-trick of assists against Wolves in Premier League 2 at the weekend and cont.
