Photo by Justin Tang / The Canadian Press Article content Closing arguments will continue today in the trial of Tamara Lich and Chris Barber, with defence teams expected to counter the Crown’s claims of a “conspiracy or common design” between the two accused convoy leaders. Crown attorneys Tim Radcliffe and Siobhain Wetscher called evidence from 16 Crown witnesses across 27 trial days last fall.

Activate your Online Access Now Article content The defence elected to call no evidence or witnesses to testify and will instead rely on its final submissions to push for an acquittal on mischief and other related charges. Lich is represented by Lawrence Greenspon and Eric Granger; Barber is represented by Diane Magas and Marwa Younes.

Magas presented closing arguments on behalf of Barber over two days of hearings, which began last week and extended into Monday. On Tuesday, Granger is expected to contest the Crown’s argument — known as a Carter application — that alleges evidence against one accused convoy leader should apply to both. Greenspon is then expected to make final submissions on behalf of Lich before Ontario Court Justice Heather Perkins-McVey.
