A "trespass incident" near Cardiff Central is causing major delays on main train lines this afternoon. National Rail is warning that a number of Great Western Railway and Transport for Wales services are being affected. Disruption of up to 35 minutes is expected to continue until 4pm.

National Rail said: "Trains may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 35 minutes whilst service recovers." She said: "Officers were called to the line near Cardiff Central railway station at 12.31 today (5 July) to reports of a trespasser on the line. Officers attended and a man was taken to a place of safety.

" Delays of up to 35 minutes National Rail says; "Trains are returning to normal between Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street / Ebbw Vale Town / Newport (South Wales) following a trespass incident near Cardiff Central." Adding: "Trains may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 35 minutes whilst service recovers. "We expect this to continue until 4pm.

" The routes affected Here are the routes that are affected by the earlier incident. There are delays of up to 35 minutes on some services: Great Western Railway between Carmarthen / Swansea and London Paddington Transport for Wales.
