Sussex's newest supermarket swung open its doors today. The new Lidl store in Worthing’s Downlands Retail Park opened on August 29. The opening was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8am attended by the Mayor of Worthing, Councillor Ibsha Choudhury.

James Mitchell, regional head of property at Lidl GB, said: “We have seen demand for our best-value products continue to grow across the country, so we are excited to open our second store in Worthing." The new store features the bakery along with the “Middle of Lidl” selling miscellaneous items at discounted prices. Lidl has another store in the town’s North Street. Customers were welcomed to the new store with free croissants from the Lidl bakery (Image: Sussex News and Pictures) Mr Mitchell added: "The new store will not only deliver more high-paying jobs for those living in the area, but it will also provide even better access to our award-winning products.
