Re: Message to Democrats: cut the toxic wokeness — Kelly McParland, Nov. 6 Pundits are telling us that Donald Trump’s victory can be largely attributed to individuals with, to quote Kelly McParland, “limited education.” Yet later in McParland’s column we read that voters were concerned about the state of the economy, stagnating wages, high food prices, diminishing hopes of owning a home, the ridiculously open border, etc.
(I would add that they were probably fed up with the Democrats’ climate obsessions and war on fossil fuels, too). It seems to me these people were pretty smart to focus on what really matters. The woke stuff is a luxury for those “better educated” people who don’t have to worry about paying the bills.
McParland also writes that Black men couldn’t be convinced to support a Black candidate. Seriously? Someone should opt for a politician merely because they have the same skin colour? If that’s all the Democrats had, then they deserve to be on the outside looking in for a long time because Trump has shown that that ship has sailed. Jeff Barker, Mississauga, Ont.
