SBW lights up Nabua! The presence of Sonny Bill Williams (SBW) lit up the Nabua Secondary School compound. SBW is a NZ heavyweight boxer, and a former professional rugby league and union player. He is only the second person to represent NZ in rugby union after first playing for the country in rugby league and is one of only 43 players to have won the Webb Ellis Cup twice with the All Blacks in 2011 and 2015.

There was huge excitement as he was welcomed in the usual manner. He was so simple. He came dressed like a simple man.



He mingled around freely with the staff and students. His speech was unwritten. The words spoken by the great SBW came from his heart.

They carried a lot of weight. He shared his family background and urged the students to work hard and stay away from drugs – such a timely message as we approach the school holidays and exams. The Nabua Secondary School family was overwhelmed to have hosted such a high profile and down-to-earth sports personality, thanks to another great sports personality, Rajesh Singh, who accompanied him.

The pictures taken with SBW, and the beautiful moments spent with him will be part of the 2024 history album. Thank you, SBW, for gracing NSS!
