As a practicing attorney for over 30 years, I've seen the negative impact that housing issues have on families in our community. We need to address this crisis now before it's too late. By setting up the NOLA Housing Trust Fund, we dedicate 2% of the city’s general fund to housing.
This will encorage first-time homebuyers as well as helping those who find themselves caught in the crosshairs of the housing crisis without adding any new taxes. I commend council member Lesli Harris and the City Council along with Andreanecia Morris and other housing advocates for bringing this issue to the forefront with a ballot intiative so that the people of New Orleans have a voice. I am hopeful that the voters will speak loudly by voting yes on Amendment 1.
Let’s make an investment in our city, an investment that will make living in New Orleans better for us now, for the immediate future and for generations to come. ROBBINS GRAHAM New Orleans.
