Jim Hartman’s column brings to mind the many, many contributions by our wonderful Indian-American citizens and how they make such positive contributions in a multitude of areas. We have many successful Indian-Americans in our beautiful region and hematologist/ oncologist, Ram K. Chillar is at the top of list.
Upon completing his studies at Hansraj College of the University of Delhi followed by Maulana Azad Medical College in India, he received a fellowship at Boston University Medical Center and did residency at Tufts Medical Center. Throughout his many years of highly respected medical service from the East Coast to the West Coast, Ram Chillar’s patients have received his undivided attention and the best of care. Settling in our valley culminated a lifetime of giving to others.
Although this highly active octogenarian is retiring from the Carson Valley Health family, it is certain he will continue to give back to his adopted and beloved America. His phenomenal listening skills, his unlimited encouragement and his sharing ideas and solutions to medical problems was a blessing to so many in our Valley. As a scientist, Ram K.
Chillar will continue to research as new topics and ideas evolve. His mind is too keen not to keep occupied. Ram Kanwar Chillar, M.
D. has devoted a lifetime not only living the American dream but contributing robustly for decades to the welfare of our society. As Jim Hartman so succinctly pointed out in his commentary, “America has been a place where Indian-Americans have thrived.
