While serving on Albany’s Housing Affordability Task Force, I saw first hand developer’s trying to push their trickle down housing agenda. Now developers and Realtors via the Albany Chamber’s grossly misnamed The Good Government Council and the Oregon Realtors Political Action Committee have each given thousands to Trevor Lee (source: Oregon Secretary of State ORESTAR). When it comes to the city of Albany’s agenda, funds allocation, and development code, the priority should be to help those that need affordable housing, not perverted to help special interest developers and Realtors.
Michael Thomson realizes that development and growth in Albany must be done carefully with a priority for the citizens of Albany, not developer profit. He understands that affordable housing means small affordable and often subsidized housing, not high end luxury apartments and townhouses for wealthy outsiders disguised as affordable housing. That’s why I’m supporting Michael Thomson for city of Albany Council Ward 1.
He is running to represent us, not special interests. Camron Settlemier Albany Get opinion pieces, letters and editorials sent directly to your inbox weekly!.
