Many Helldivers 2 players put all of their hope on the Escalation of Freedom update taking the game back where it needs to be. Unfortunately, Arrowhead Game Studios failed to deliver, although the developers have laid out a 60-day roadmap to reverse many of the changes made, as well as implement new protocols to help ensure that future updates won’t receive such negative reactions. It could be too little too late as it seems that some players have finally had enough.
U/DrywallConsumer1300 took to the Helldivers 2 sub-Reddit to state that they have had enough of being let down by updates in the game and that the community should just “let Super Earth burn” by letting the Automatons reach Super Earth. This comes after the robot army recently made strides to get closer to home, with them now only being two Sectors away. In the Reddit post, they started it off by saying that”Super Earth has consistently delivered lackluster weaponry and cut costs on anything actually useful.
They expect us to fight even more difficult and numerous enemies while making it harder to do so. Then they expect us to protect them after everything they did.” They then detailed some of the major accomplishments that the Helldivers 2 community has achieved over the past six months including that “We expelled the Automaton Vanguard from the galaxy.
Annihilated the Meridian Super Colony. Saved the sick children. And even forced Super Sony to revert the planned recruitment requirements.
And this is how we’re repaid.” Wrapping up the post, u/DrywallConsumer1300 expressed their disappointment with Super Earth and that they feel betrayed by the SEAF noting that “Super Earth has lost my loyalty. It doesn’t deserve it.
I never wanted to do this. I never wanted to betray Super Earth, but they’ve left us no choice. Even if it takes the last drop of my blood.
We will free the galaxy from the failures of Managed Democracy. LET SUPER EARTH BURN. DEATH TO THE FALSE PRESIDENT.
” Other Helldivers 2 players took to the comments to share their thoughts on the current situation, with U/Ok_Marionberry8779 saying “Helldivers forming a union wasn’t on my 2024 bingo card.” While U/Furebel amusingly pointed out that “Super Earth won’t burn because flames don’t work that way.” It is a shame that Helldivers 2 is experiencing so much backlash, although perhaps the straw that finally broke the camel’s back could finally lead to the change needed to get the game where it needs to be.
The community continues to be very passionate about the game even six months on. If they weren’t, many would just leave without saying a word and Helldivers 2 would slowly die. The recent Escalation of Freedom nerfed various weapons in the game, including the beloved Breaker Incendiary Shotgun.
