The singer, 39, said 'life will never be the same without' the pooch but she is 'grateful' she got to be a dog parent to the chihuahua.

Alongside a gallery of snaps of Forrest, Leona gushed the adorable pooch was her 'best friend' and revealed he often accompanied her to the music studio. The X Factor star also shared a number of snaps of her Doberman Zion which she lost two years ago. She wrote: 'I don’t really know where to begin.

I had to say goodbye to my little Forrest, my best friend through so many phases of my life. Leona Lewis revealed she is 'heartbroken' as she shared the sad news on Instagram on Tuesday that her beloved pet dog Forrest has died The singer, 39, said 'life will never be the same without' the pooch but she is 'grateful' she got to be a dog parent to the chihuahua 'I had only just gotten to the point of being able to talk about the loss of Zion, my beautiful Doberman who passed away 2 years ago. It was only 2 weeks after the birth of Carmel so it was very difficult to process the pain of losing him at that point.

'Forrest and Zion were two of the most precious gifts and I’m so grateful for each day I got to spend with them. My studio companions, my protectors from squirrels, my snuggle buddies, my baby boys. 'Life will never be the same without you but I still feel you around me and I know you are with each other laying by a window in that little bit of sunlight you both loved so much.

'Forever grateful I got to be your earth mama and thank you for opening up my heart with your love'. Fans rushed to the comments to share their condolences including Michelle Visage and Callum Scott. The Bleeding Love singer welcomed her daughter in July 2022 with her husband of five years, Dennis Jauch.

She has a particular passion for animal rights, publicly speaking out against animal testing and voicing her support for animal activism, sustainability and conservation. In December 2019, Leona and her husband Dennis opened a vegan cafe in Pasadena called Coffee and Plants, partnering with the National Forest Association to plant a tree for every cup they sell.

They expanded to their second location in Studio City earlier this year and the cafe also works in partnership with Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, with proceeds of select items donated to the charity. Leona has campaigned for the fight against HIV /AIDS, Save The Children's initiative to stop child hunger at Christmas , to honour the NHS and to raise awareness of children’s mental health. She has also worked alongside The Prince’s Trust, Teenage Cancer Trust, WWF and American Red Cross as well as performing live during the pandemic to raise funds for COVID-19 initiatives.
