Leah Remini and husband Angelo Pagan are going their separate ways after 28 years together. The announced their separation, revealing that they are filing for divorce in a joint statement posted on on Aug. 29.

Remini and Pagan posted a throwback of themselves alongside what appears to be a more recent photo of the pair. “Well, here we are. After 28 years together and 21 years of marriage, we have decided to file for divorce,” the statement began.



“This decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it’s what’s best for us.” The couple, who share 20-year-old daughter Sofia Bella Pagan, wrote that they are proud of how they worked through this together. “Yes, we’re sad, and we’ve got some figuring out to do as we continue to move forward into our new normal — together still in many ways, and apart in some new ones,” the statement added, before sharing more insight on their split.

“But here’s the thing: we’ve been best friends for so many years. We are still celebrating holidays together, watching our favorite tv shows together, and gathering as a family. So, the big question—why?” Remini and Pagan, an actor-turned-entrepreneur, wrote: “To put it simply, we both changed, as people do, and we got used to playing roles that didn’t fit us anymore.

” They wrote that after a lot of effort and consideration, they decided to take the step to divorce. While their bond is “still strong,” they wrote that they have “evolved into something different.” “We think a marriage that lasted this long and created so many beautiful memories, especially raising our incredible daughter, is something to celebrate,” the statement continued, calling their marriage “a huge success.

” For now, the pair will look forward to creating more cherished moments in different ways, as a separated couple. They also shared that they wanted to be transparent with their followers because they have been so public with their marriage, which included starring in their own TLC reality show, “Leah Remini: It’s All Relative.” As they go into “unknown territory” in the next stage of their personal lives, they wrote that they “would love for everyone to have more access to different kinds of relationship stories and not feel so isolated in navigating the changes that millions of couples make every year.

” They hope their journey can inspire other people to see that relationships, whether they end or not, “aren’t failures.” Remini and Pagan met at a Hollywood nightclub called El Floridita and began dating in 1996. In an interview with magazine, she told her daughter, “For me, it was love at first sight.

" They would go on to on July 19, 2003 at Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas. They welcomed their daughter, Sofia, in 2004. During an appearance on , Remini spoke about their early days as a couple and the struggles they went through.

“It’s a beautiful love story because we did have a hard time at the beginning,” she said in 2019. “We didn’t meet under the best of circumstances. We got counseling and it was not an easy road.
