'The judge made it clear: she used Kyle as an open-ended cheque book and repeatedly threatened him to get what she wanted. 'She then orchestrated a media campaign to feed intolerable and wrongful intrusion into the private lives of Kyle, Annie and their young family.' Goodman issued a statement after the Family Court judge Edward Hess took the rare step of allowing the proceedings – and the extraordinary sums Goodman had demanded - being published by the media.
Details of financial settlements heard at the High Court are usually kept secret to protect the privacy of those bring the actions. Goodman said in her brief statement the hearings were 'only ever been about the children'. Goodman opposed publication of his judgment on privacy grounds But Judge Hess wrote: 'It sits ill for a person to come to court arguing for privacy for her children when, just a very short while earlier, she took a payment from the press to visit the European football championship with her son dressed in an England football shirt with the name 'Daddy' on the back.
