The Best New Artist category at the Latin Grammys is always one people look forward to, especially because it’s predicted some major stars in the past. (Previous recipients include Karol G, Calle 13, and Juanes.) This year’s contenders represent a diverse group, spanning pop, rock, folk genres across Latin America.

Three of the nominees include Ela Taubert , the Colombian songwriter who had a breakthrough 2024 with gigantic, upbeat bangers about love and heartbreak. Recognition also went to DARUMAS , an all-girl trio that’s been releasing a steady stream of hits over the last couple of months. And then there’s Latin Mafia, the Mexican indie band that recently bent genres in all forms on their debut album Todos Los Días Todo El Día .

Below, these acts talk about what the nomination means to them. I feel so grateful and blessed. I think every musician dreams about moment like this and it’s a category you never get nominated for again.

It makes me really happy to know that this happened as a team; everyone I work with has been a huge part of my project and the music. It’s not just about me; we feel like we already won with just the nomination, which is huge. We were at home when the announcement came out to watch the livestream, and just as soon as we saw the first three letters, we all started screaming.

We were like, “D-A-R-ahhhh!!!” We didn’t even hear them finish saying our name. We’re feeling like it’s so crazy and an honor to have that recognition.
