Plans to introduce new 20mph speed limits on a host of roads around Swindon are currently progressing. In June, Swindon Borough Council began enforcing 20mph speed restrictions on dozens of streets in the Abbey View Road, Old Shaw Lane, Cheney Manor Road, and Stanton Fitzwarren areas. There are currently proposals being considered for another raft of speed limit reductions across Swindon and the borough.

A number of these plans have already gone through both an informal and formal consultation stage and comments are now “being considered” by officers, ward councillors, and a cabinet member ahead of potential implementation. The proposals currently in this stage are for multiple roads in the Queensfield, Tismeads Crescent, Wanborough, and Liddington areas. Meanwhile, plans to implement a 20mph speed limit in the Dores Road area are going through an informal consultation phase.

This will run until August 30, during which time residents, businesses, and other interested parties will have the opportunity to comment on the suggested proposals.
