LATAM Airlines Chile has announced plans for a number of its services to be operated by Wamos Air on a wet lease basis this winter season. From November 1st, Wamos Air will operate the following routes on behalf of LATAM: Santiago de Chile (SCL) - Los Angeles (LAX) Santiago de Chile (SCL) - Bogotá (BOG) Santiago de Chile (SCL) - Lima (LIM). The Spanish carrier will deploy its Airbus A330-200s and crews on the routes, replacing LATAM's Boeing 787s, which are due to undergo a cabin refurbishment.
Replacing Boeing 787s with Airbus A330s LATAM is investing $360 million in cabin upgrades, including the installation of the new Recaro R7 Suite seat in business class, which LATAM claims will offer greater privacy, personal space, and comfort for passengers. The airline has embarked on an extensive refurbishment program. The wet lease arrangement is expected to last until early 2025, although no definite end date has been announced.
On its website, LATAM advises passengers of the agreement, saying, "LATAM and Wamos Air have a wet lease agreement, aiming to ensure the consistency of the flight schedule. Even if your LATAM purchase includes Wamos Air-operated flights, every step of your journey - from purchasing your ticket to checking in and boarding the plane - will be done through LATAM. Thus, the rules applicable for Wamos Air-operated flights are the same that apply for LATAM flights.
