B eing typecast is not something a legacy brand worries about, especially in the haute horology space. For, it is in the cache of its familiarity that its fame is interwoven. The Type XX 2067 Rose Gold from Breguet, a fine inheritor of the new-generation Type XX, launched in June 2023, incorporates ceramic.

This new timepiece too, uses yesterday’s inspiration for today’s design, drawing on the emblematic watches dating back to the collection’s origins. Back in 1955, gold was reserved for very rare timepieces such as the Breguet No. 1780.

There were only three gold timepieces in this small series—Type 20 (military version) or Type XX (civilian version). As for contrasting bezel and cases, this design began with the second generation of Type XXs dating from the 1970s. For this new version, the graduated, bidirectional rotating bezel in gold features a blue ceramic ring, which offers an elegant contrast with the gold of the case and numerals.

The sunburst blue of the dial is reminiscent of the variations in the sky after sunset. As a final flourish, the numerals are in gold and filled with luminescent material. Time to shine seems to be the appropriate tagline.
