If you didn't stay up past midnight to watch who won the Gold Logie, well, we don't blame you. In maybe the longest ceremony ever, the aired on Channel Seven on Sunday night, with host taking out the top gong. Larry's Gold Logie campaign has been filled with laughs and promises (including a pledge to get the initials of everyone else up for the Gold Logie on his butt.

.. more on that soon) and his speech was well worth waiting for as he thanked his fellow TV icons, his wife Sylvie, and poked fun at the "arseholes" in the industry.

Saying that his dad told him when he started out in TV to "just be nice to everyone", Larry quipped, "Dad, I’m trying but there’s so many arseholes in this business. Like, so many..

." But he had a lot of love to share for the business, saying he loved being in and on TV and never wanted to do anything else. "Whether it's sitting on The Morning Show couch interviewing Lindy Klim, who has invented a new product - a face mask for vulvas; or a 150kg truck driver who has won on The Price Is Right dry humping me; or being the most axed man in television," he said.

A lot of Aussies thought the win was very well-deserved for the TV veteran who has been across our screens for 40 years. "I thought the Logies last night was one of the best in years. And very happy Larry one Gold," one person said on X.

"What a great acceptance speech.. one of the best I can remember.

...

congratulations," another person said. "Congrats Larry so well deserved. You are an Aussie treasure such a natural, funny, likeable guy.

I loved your speech too it was brilliant," another agreed. Highly recommend watching Larry Emdur’s Gold Logie speech, brilliant 👏 — Jords FTTV (@JordsFTTV) "Huge Congratulations to Larry for surviving and thriving in the TV industry for 40 years..

.a superlative presenter and a warm witty effervescent human being! Larry really deserves this accolade more than anyone in Australian show biz!!!" another person said on Facebook. Despite being happy for Larry, other fans weren't very thrilled about the late finishing time, with the show wrapping after midnight.

"Felix Cameron and Larry Emdur did great speeches and were deserved winners but WHO was still watching at midnight? How can this event get overhauled & still run for five hours? Even Eurovision and the Oscars are shorter," one person tweeted. Larry's win came as a shock to him, even if it didn't to many of his fans. “I was so convinced that I wasn’t going to win this that I said, that if I did win it, I would have all the nominees’ initials tatted on my arse live tomorrow morning,” he said.

On this morning after Kylie Gillies said he was going to enjoy sitting down and relaxing later, Larry joked that he wouldn't be able to sit down after getting tattooed — so while it hasn't happened yet, the tattoo artist has arrived on set and the show is still airing at time of writing this article, so watch this space!.
