Developer Larian Studios set the new benchmark for ludicrously detailed RPGs with its revolutionary Baldur's Gate 3 , which was developed in a somewhat unique situation (given the time and resources to achieve the developer's vision, with input from the community). It should come as no surprise, then, to learn that the studio (or "the machine", as we've come to prefer) is currently working on two games simultaneously, and both are shaping up to be behemoths. BG3 is approaching its first anniversary , and Larian CEO and founder Swen Vincke sat down with PC Gamer to discuss the studio's predictably ambitious next projects in a refreshingly frank fashion: "The machine is meant to make large games.

We were made for making large, ambitious RPGs and to try new stuff." Having swollen to some 500 employees split across seven international studios and with a war chest brimming with gold, Larian is re-investing its largesse into what it knows best. The once-scrappy studio seems set to become a significant player in the RPG space for years to come, and we can't help but be excited.

Following a meeting in Barcelona, in which the studio discussed "lift-off" , it seems like we'd all best prepare for the roleplaying onslaught to come: "We actually know what we want from our gameplay systems, how to evolve them, how to do new things...

and they're all big." Embrace the evil "It would be a lie to say we didn't" Are you excited for our seemingly inevitable, Larian-led future? Where are we supposed to find the time to play bigger, ever more immersive RPGs? Roleplay having enough time to do everything you like in the comments section below. [source pcgamer.
