Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will write to the district collector’s office to act against large-scale tree felling reports on gairan land – reserved for cattle grazing – in Moshi. The PCMC chief Shekhar Singh told TOI that the revenue department owns the land. “I am exploring legal opinions on whether PCMC can intervene in the issue as the municipal commissioner is also a chief of tree authority for the city,” he said.

“Meanwhile, I am writing to the district collector office to initiate action. We are also trying to take some steps from our end under the Tree Act,” Singh said. Environment activist Prashant Raul earlier this month had highlighted the matter to the municipal corporation.
