Friday, August 16, 2024 In a significant move within the hospitality industry, Sebastian Lang and Marcus Schwander, the founding partners of Miami-based hotel interior design firm Lang & Schwander, have announced the acquisition of the historic Hotel Engadinerhof. Situated in Pontresina, a charming mountain village in southeast Switzerland, this acquisition marks a pivotal expansion for the firm into hotel ownership and management. The financial terms of the sale remain undisclosed.

The Hotel Engadinerhof, originally opened in 1905, boasts 85 keys and is a prime example of the region’s Belle Epoque architecture, surrounded by traditional stone houses that define the picturesque Swiss landscape. Located conveniently near Zurich, the hotel is easily accessible by both train and car, making it a favored destination for travelers seeking an authentic Swiss experience. Lang & Schwander, renowned for their expertise in furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), will oversee a comprehensive renovation of the hotel.

The project will be led by Atelier Zürich, a distinguished Swiss interior design firm helmed by Claudia Silberschmidt. The renovation will focus on modernizing the common areas and guest rooms while preserving the hotel’s historic charm. The renovation will be carried out in phases, with completion targeted for 2026.

During this period, the hotel will remain open to guests. “This acquisition is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for us,” said Sebastian Lang. “It allows us to integrate every aspect of our company’s ecosystem into the property, from interior design to FF&E fulfillment and now hotel management.

” Marcus Schwander added, “This venture enables us to better understand and appreciate the entire process our clients go through, from ground-up construction and renovation to the final touches that make a hotel truly special.” Lang & Schwander has built a strong reputation within the hospitality industry, offering a wide range of services that span the entire construction and design process. Their acquisition of Hotel Engadinerhof not only expands their portfolio but also allows them to bring their expertise directly to the hospitality experience.

By managing the hotel themselves, Lang & Schwander can showcase their holistic approach to design and operations, offering guests a unique blend of luxury and heritage. Founded in 2007 by Swiss hospitality experts and close friends Sebastian Lang and Marcus Schwander, Lang & Schwander has established itself as a leader in the hospitality design industry. Based in Miami, the firm is dedicated to providing top-tier FF&E solutions and design services across the globe.

With a multinational team of architects, designers, engineers, and project managers, Lang & Schwander aims to enhance guest experiences through innovative and thoughtful design. Their acquisition of Hotel Engadinerhof is a testament to their commitment to excellence and innovation in the hospitality industry..
