The No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish secured a victory in the first-ever College Football Playoff game with a 12-team format, defeating the No. 10 Indiana Hoosiers in dominating fashion, 27-17.
The Fighting Irish beat the Hoosiers in nearly every aspect of the game, recording 394 total yards to Indiana's 278. Notre Dame, led by running back Jeremiyah Love, was also able to put up 193 rushing yards on Curt Cignetti's top-ranked run defense. Indiana was also unable to get into the end zone throughout the game before doing so twice in the final two minutes.
