Lake Forest has come from the clouds to produce a stunning win in the $10m Golden Eagle at Rosehill on Saturday. Sitting at the back of the field on the bend, UK raider Lake Forest was still well back with just 200m remaining. But jockey Cieren Fallon timed his run to perfection on the inside to find the gap and pip favourite Lazzat on the line.

There was also a protest by fifth-placed Stefi Magnetica against Lazzat for blocking a gap during the frantic finish.



Stewards eventually dismissed both protests after lengthy deliberations. “We are absolutely delighted with the horse,” Isabella Paul, stable rep for trainer William Haggas, said. ”Cieren (Fallon) has ridden the most beautiful race and we used that explosive turn of foot and my god, that final 200 metres was so impressive.
