Hannah Johnson The Lagos State sanitation operatives have arrested 20 individuals caught engaging in open defecation at Berger. The state government had on Thursday vowed to commence prosecution of individuals who engage in open defecation, particularly along the Berger area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The PUNCH Healthwise reports that the Lagos and Ogun government commenced the cleanup of the median along the expressway last week, and warned the public against defecating on the medians.

Following the menace of the act on the highway, the Ogun State government also said it was planning a mobile court to try offenders. The state Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the crackdown in a statement on X.com on Sunday.



“Open Defecation, During patrol and monitoring of Ojodu – Berger yesterday night and early hours of today, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps #LAGESCOfficial arrested 20 individuals for committing environmental infractions,” he wrote.
