Not one, but two overtimes were needed in order to determine a winner in Thursday’s game between SFA and San Diego State’s women’s basketball teams as the Ladyjacks came away with the 89-80 victory in the San Diego Classic. The win advances the Ladyjacks to 9-2 overall. The Aztecs are now 10-2.

Trinity Moore scored the first two points of the game from the foul line before the Ladyjacks stole the inbounds pass. That led to Faith Blackstone putting it up for two points. Meghan Fiso put the Aztecs on the scoreboard with a three.

The Ladyjacks stole another inbounds pass before Ashlyn Traylor-Walker went up for two points to make the score 6-3. A layup from Kim Villalobos put SDSU within one point but a pair of threes from Moore and a layup from Traylor-Walker extended SFA’s lead to 14-5 and forced San Diego State to call a timeout with 5:52 remaining in the first quarter. Naomi Panganiban drained a three.

Blackstone went 2-for-2 from the line. Nat Martinez added a layup and moments later, drained a three from behind the key to make it a two-point game. Blackstone went 2-of-2 from the foul line to make the score 21-17 after one complete quarter.

SDSU’s Cali Clark scored the first points of the second quarter. Blackstone knocked down a layup and added a free throw to complete the old fashioned three-point play. Traylor-Walker added a jumper but the Aztecs made a run of their own.

A jumper from Adryana Quezada and a layup from Panganiban made it a one-possession game. Tr.
