SFA’s women’s basketball team led for the entire game Thursday night as the Ladyjacks defeated Houston Christian 82-35. With the win, the Ladyjacks advance to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in Southland Conference play. HCU is 4-8 overall and 1-2 against SLC opponents.

The Ladyjacks came out firing right out of the gate as a pair of threes from Harmanie Dominguez led to a quick 8-0 lead and forced the Huskies to call their first timeout with 9:04 to play in the first quarter. Kierra Prim gave HCU its first bucket of the day to make the score 10-2 but Ashlyn Traylor-Walker tacked on her second layup of the night to give SFA its first double-digit lead. Moments later, Traylor-Walker found Trinity Moore for the assist.



Moore tossed in a three before Traylor-Walker to extend the Ladyjacks’ lead to 21-6 and forced HCU to call its second timeout with 3:28 to play in the opening quarter. Key Roseby knocked down the final points of the quarter from beyond the arc to make the score 24-7 with one quarter in the books. Kendall Beck scored the first points of the second quarter for the Huskies.

Avery VanSickle responded with a three on the other end. A bucket down low from Faith Blackstone gave the Ladyjacks their first 20-point lead. Mariyah Brown responded with a banked-in shot.

Traylor-Walker drained a three. The Ladyjacks continued to pour it on. Blackstone added a three and Dominguez knocked down a layup.

Moore knocked down back-to-back buckets to make it a 30-point lead. Traylor found .
