Pune: Many beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Mazhi Ladki Bahin Yojana have reached out to the district women and child development department officials about the delay in the financial assistance of Rs 1,500 for Aug and Sept. The payout for 1.6 crore beneficiaries for June and July was initiated mid-August but disbursements for Aug and Sept have been a trickle so far raising questions among the grantees about the scheme's sustainability.

Maya Avadh, a waste picker, said she visited her bank twice to check for the disbursement, but there is no communication either from the bank or from the local district officials. "A nodal official should inform beneficiaries either through SMS or some official as we are not sure the amount will continue to be disbursed," she added. Heena Ansari has similar apprehensions.

She said that her form was approved but she has not got the disbursement for the first two months because her Aadhaar was not linked to her bank account. Women and child development department officials said that the disbursements for Aug and Sept will roll out in 15 days. "There were some technical issues, but beneficiaries will get the amount," an official said.

They also clarified that those who applied in Aug will get it from that month and not for June and July. The same applies to those who applied in September. WCD minister Aditi Tatkare on Tuesday in an online meeting with all district officials addressed issues concerning minimum balance and women complaining abo.
