Last weekend, 27 Ladies from Enmore Park Golf Club travelled to the Dorset Golf and Country Club at Bere Regis for the Lady Captain's Night Away. They all enjoyed a fantastic time with lots of fun, laughter, and golf in between. On Sunday, teams of four played in a Bowmaker competition with two scores to count.

The winners were Heather Neale, Heather Saxton, Jackie Woodman, and Suzanne Bromme. The Monday competition was a pairs-better ball, which Jackie Woodman, partnered by Stevie Foster (immediate past captain Jo Wyatt's sister), also won. The sun shone, and the ladies enjoyed playing on good greens but found the bunkers and water challenging.

On Sunday, 203 balls were either lost or went in a bunker!! Congratulations to Katie Gibbons for guessing closest to this number. Last Saturday 10 Past Club Captains from Enmore took part in the MET Shield that Minehead Golf Club hosted The weather was kind, providing the competing teams of Minehead, Tiverton, and Enmore with some summer-like sunshine. A challenging match was followed by a lovely meal.

At the end of the day, Minehead won with a score of 199 points, Enmore claimed second place with 192 points, and Tiverton was third with 188 points. Many congratulations to Paddy MacLennan, Enmore Past Club Captain in 2012, who achieved the highest individual score of 38 points. Enmore Seniors travelled to the Isle of Wedmore Golf Club last week, and you could not have asked for a better September day venue for an away match.

The course played well, and the final pairing of Steve Wilcox and Mike Taylor recorded a win, while Enmore Seniors Captain Chris Willsteed with Keith Norcutt halved their match. The overall result was a 4.5 to 1.

5 victory for Isle of Wedmore. Later in the week, Enmore Park Seniors hosted their counterparts from Long Ashton on another beautiful late summer day. Although the greens had recently undergone recent work, they played better than expected.

All but the two new boys, Brian "Bish" Bishop and Tim O'Sullivan, enjoyed a very enjoyable game. Unfortunately, only two of the home pairings managed a half, losing the match 5 to 1. The Enmore Seniors would like to thank the club's catering team for providing them with many tasty meals during 2024.
