Now, alleged criminals are said to be exploiting the ursine attacks by staging break-ins on luxury cars while wearing bear suits to commit insurance fraud. Police in California have arrested four suspects accused of dressing up and filming the incidents before lodging false claims.

Officials from the state insurance department said a gang claimed that a bear had broken into their Rolls-Royce Ghost in Lake Arrowhead, a town in the San Bernardino Mountains, in January and caused damage to its interior.
