A cross-border truck driver died after he had finished building his first house and before he had moved in to stay there. The driver, Lawrence Dzimati, drives trucks for Nak Trans, based in Chatsworth, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He died after a short illness.
Truck Driver Died Days After Finishing Building His First House Dzimati worked for a couple of years, driving trucks for the South African company while also staying there. As he worked, he set aside money to build his family a home in Zimbabwe. Dzimati secured a residential stand, and in no time, he began building his house.
The money he got from being a truck driver was enough to construct a neat home. He had it painted grey and fitted with beautiful floor tiles and windows. He had not yet constructed a perimeter wall and gate to secure the house.
However, he completed everything necessary for the home. He had not yet filled the house with any household property when he invited them for a housewarming party on 25 December 2024.
The truck driver promised to slaughter three cows to be feasted in as they celebrated the new house. However, all this was not to be. Dzimati died this week before he had even moved into the new house.
