Prayagraj: With Sangam City gearing up for the 2025 Mahakumbh in January and February, there seems to be no space left for marriage bookings for couples in November and December. With auspicious dates for marriages beginning on November 12, on the occasion of Devuthani Ekadashi, families planning weddings for their sons and daughters are struggling to find hotels, halls and resorts between November 12, 2024, and January 13, 2025. Hotel managers, marriage hall owners, and resort authorities told TOI, "This time, there is a mad rush of space seekers as most weddings are set for Nov 12 itself.
With 18 auspicious dates in Nov and Dec, all big and small marriage halls, guest houses, inns, and hotels in the city are booked in advance." DP Singh, senior manager of the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC), said, "Most marriage seekers made bookings well in advance for Nov and Dec, as the Mahakumbh begins on January 13 in the city." He added, "Due to Mahakumbh preparations, officials and employees from various working units have already occupied hotel rooms in the city, and thus, people are avoiding to book wedding venues in Jan and Feb.
" A notable trend is that marriage seekers are now looking to book resorts located on the Prayagraj-Rewa, Prayagraj-Varanasi, Prayagraj-Lucknow, and Pratapgarh highways.
