The love I get from my Kolkata fans is what draws me to this city. They’re so passionate and it’s always a humbling experience,” says Armaan Mallik who was in the city recently. CT chatted with him as he reminisced about his Bengali debut and shared his love for Kolkata’s food.

‘Itching to sing another Bengali song soon’ Bengali has such a sweet way of pronouncing words—it’s like music in itself! (laughs) I’ve had the pleasure of singing some beautiful songs for Jeet Gannguli and Indraadip Dasgupta, among others. It’s been over three years since I released a song in Bangla, and I’m definitely itching to record another one, if and when the opportunity arises. What makes India special is the unique Indianness.

It’s something one can’t find anywhere else as it resonates the feeling of being home. It’s in the air, in the energy. It’s just incredible– Armaan Malik ‘I want to see the grandeur of Durga Puja in Kolkata’ I want to experience Durga Puja in Kolkata.

I’ve seen the festival being celebrated in Mumbai, but they say it’s nothing like what happens in Kolkata. I’ve even sung a few Pujo songs in Bengali — Sundori Komola with Antara Mitra is one of them and it was such a joy to be part of that. It’s moments like these that make me feel connected to the culture here.

Armaan’s love affair with Kolkata’s food Kolkata gives me this warm, nostalgic rush, mainly because of the food! I’m a huge foodie and the food here is just amazing! How can anyone resist bhetki paturi ? Kheer kodom , my favourite mishti, keeps pulling me back to the city again and again. I have to be careful because of my throat, so I don’t indulge in street food as much as I’d like to. But I do have a soft spot for phuchka .

It’s fascinating to see how food and music connect people here — that’s something truly beautiful about Kolkata. ‘I am equally passionate about food and music’ Growing up, I was always fascinated by space. I used to think maybe I’d become an astronaut or an astrophysicist.

But as I grew older, my love for music took over. I’m also so passionate about food, I think I could have been a restaurateur or a chef. But who says I can’t do both? Maybe someday I’ll fulfil my dream of having my own restaurant.

There’s some future planning in the works. 'My recent release is different from your previous ones' Tera Mein Intezaar marks a return to the soulful ballads my fans have missed. It’s a bit of a departure from the usual romance themes, with a bittersweet vibe and a fresh take on expressing the weight of longing.

The video avoids clichéd narratives and instead dives into a more profound emotional space, reflecting a new dimension of love and waiting..
