Samiti’s national president, Rajesh Kesarwani, said, “Mamata Banerjee-led TMC govt was protecting the criminals and as a result, the cases of murder and rapes pertaining to women are on the rise.” He added, “Goons are making a mockery of law and order in West Bengal and Mamata Banerjee was acting like a mute spectator.” The activists also demanded the central govt to dismiss the West Bengal govt and maintain law and order.

On Saturday night, scores of girl students of Allahabad University (AU) also took to the streets and carried out a protest march from Hostel Road to Balson Crossing and shouted slogans like “Suno Draupadi shastra utha lo, ab Govind na ayenge” and “Jab tak aurat tang rahegi, Jung rahegi - jung rahegi.” They also claimed that it took around seven years to do justice in the Nirbhaya case and questioned how long women will continue to be sufferers.
