The Koitabuans invite everyone this year to their newly rebranded festival, the Koitabu Festival which was a successful hit last year. The festival will take place in Geita Sebea cricket oval, Kira Kira Village on Saturday November 23, 2024. It is organized by a group of Koitabuans who have worked hard to bring forth a festival that aims to celebrate and unify the Koitabuan people; the indigenous inhabitants of Port Moresby who have coexisted with the Motuan tribe for centuries.

The festival will be bringing together Koitabuans from the Nation`s capital, including the traditional villages of Kira Kira, Mahuru, Korobosea, and Baruni. The other Koitabuan communities including the ones residing in the Motuan villages of Pari, Vabukori, and Hanuabada have also been invited. To further strengthen tribal ties, Koitabuans from the Hiri-Koiari District in Central Province, including the villages of Kido, Papa, Keiva, Kouderika, Gorou, and Roku, have also been invited.

The theme of this year`s festival is, “Economic Empowerment through MSME, Culture, Fashion, and Tourism.” It shows the festival’s dedication to spotlighting the economic potential of Koitabuans across different fields. This year`s festival is also dedicated to the hard-working Motu Koitabuan women who build their communities and homes.

Ms Gorame Momo, President of the Koita Magi Association Inc. (KKMAI), expressed her gratitude to Hon Justin Tkatchenko and the Motu Koita Desk for their consistent support of SME ma.
