Birth: November 12th, 1953 Death: July 14th, 2024 Kittie Wells Johnson OBITUARY Kittie Wells Johnson, age 70, of Frederic, MI, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Kittie was born in Dearborn, MI, on November 12, 1953, to George and Barbara (Martin) Woodward. The third eldest of four siblings, Kittie was raised on Michigan sports, road trips around the country, home cooked meals, adventures in nature, and the closeness of family.

As a result, throughout her life, Kittie formed deep and meaningful connections with the communities of which she was a part. Whether she was supporting her children’s athletic endeavors as team mom, making sure children in the Novi Community School District arrived to and from school safely as a bus driver, or enjoying nature and outdoor sports as an active member of the Whitmore Lake Rod & Gun Club where her grandchildren also attended summer camp for many years, Kittie’s commitment and energy were boundless. In retirement, she and her husband, “Gregory Dale,” transformed their property into an oasis where flowers, fruit, and love grow abundantly.

They hosted members of canoeing clubs, “camps” for their grandchildren, and reunions for their large, extended family. Kittie poured her heart and soul into creating this sacred space and these magical moments, and the beauty that remains is her legacy. Kittie is preceded in death by her parents, George and Barbara Woodward, and is survived by her beloved husband, Gregory Johnson of Frederic, MI; children, Angie Gassam (Chuck) of Livonia, MI, Arnie Gillert (Alexis) of Johnson City, TN, Alex Gillert (Deanna) of Highland, MI, Eric Johnson of Flint, MI, and Jessica Hayward (Aaron) of Clarkston, MI; eight (8) grandchildren; loyal canine companion, Rey; siblings, Pete Woodward (Jane) of Fort White, FL, Sue Marderness (Gene) of Fort Myers, FL, and Jo Provenzano (Mario) of Norton Shores, MI; eight (8) nieces and nephews; 14 great nieces and nephews; and many adoring friends.

We love you Kittie (wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend) and miss your enormous hugs and joyous laughter the most. Thank you for sharing your special kind of love – we are all stronger for it. Kittie’s celebration of life will be hosted by her family on Saturday, October 5.
