A journalist in Noida has recounted a horrific harassment incident that happened with her. She also listed other incidents where men made her feel uncomfortable. Read to know about her story! Noida: Amid widespread protests that have broken out across the country after the brutal rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata, several women have taken to social media to share their own experiences where they have had to face unpleasant circumstances because of men.

One such encounter was shared by a journalist from Noida. Viral X post The woman named Sonal Pateria shared a horrific incident that she encountered while she was waiting for a cab near DLF Mall of India and sector 18, Noida. Sonal said that a man, who was riding pillion on a bike made a lewd remark at her and asked her, “Kitna rate legi (How much would you charge)?” She said that while the man did not even stop and everything happened in a flick of a moment, the incident still left Sonal shaken.



However, sadly, this is not the first time that such a thing has happened. In follow-up tweets, Sonal also mentioned other incidents that she has encountered. She said that once a guy approached her while she was walking.

She thought that he recognized her because of her journalism experience. However, the man said that he saw her walking and found her to be attractive and so he wanted to talk to her to see if they could get along. She told the man she was not interested but was left traumatised by the incident.

She immediately called a male friend and asked him to be on call with her for a while. Netizens react In yet another incident, she recalled how a man had approached her for her phone number because he found her to be beautiful by looks. Several social media users have reacted to the woman’s X posts.

“This is terrible. If this is the condition in a metro town where educated people live, I can only imagine what’s happening in more remote areas,” one social media user wrote. “This is so disturbing, we can only hope that no one goes through this!” another social media user wrote.

“It’s deeply heartbreaking and shameful that we, as a society, have failed to protect our sisters. Such incidents highlight how far we still have to go in ensuring their safety and dignity,” yet another user wrote..
