The 75-year-old monarch is reportedly in good spirits following a "better than expected" medical report.

The King made headlines worldwide in February when he revealed that he had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer and would be undergoing treatment. This announcement came after a scheduled surgery for an enlarged prostate in London. By disclosing his diagnosis, Charles broke from the Royal Family's tradition of keeping health matters confidential.

He has been remarkably candid about his condition, even discussing the "shock" of his cancer diagnosis with hospital patients when he resumed his Royal duties in April. Known for his stoicism, King Charles responded to inquiries about his wellbeing with: "I'm all right, thanks. Not too bad.

"But if he felt that the time was right." After his diagnosis, the King took a three-month break from his Royal duties to concentrate on his recovery. Sources close to the monarchy have expressed cautious optimism regarding the King's health, telling the press that while he is "not yet out of the woods", there is "great optimism" as his treatment has progressed "better than anyone would have thought". They added, "It wasn't like he was totally broken and nor are we totally out of the woods yet as treatment continues. Treatment has gone better than anyone would have thought even in their most optimistic thoughts.

" A member of the King's inner circle remarked on the positive change in atmosphere, saying, "The sun wasn't shining in February but it is shining now". The King has been seen in high spirits throughout the summer, making appearances at various events and garden parties while undergoing his treatment. On Monday, the King was spotted at Balmoral's gates, where he reviewed the Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, in a ceremony marking his official reception at the Aberdeenshire castle.

This event precedes the summer holiday he will enjoy there with the Queen and other Royal Family members..
