Many popular attractions in the Cambridgeshire area have got a range of deals exclusive to this weekend. With a variety of inexpensive day trips happening in Cambridgeshire, you are sure to find something to suit your family's needs.

The Nene Valley Railway in Peterborough is letting kids ride the iconic steam train for just £1 with a full paying adult for the whole of the Bank Holiday weekend. With a couple of stops and attractions along the way, the Nene Valley Railway makes for a great day out. Most excitingly, Wandsford station has its own miniature railway that runs alongside the car park and can be ridden by both children and their parents for a small charge. This station also has an extremely detailed and impressive model railway to have a look at and after, you can let the kids run free at the Jubilee playground. In terms of food, you have a plenty of options.

To keep the cost of the day low, you can take a picnic and enjoy watching the trains go by in the Wandsford picnic area. The Wandsford Café sells Full English Breakfasts from 9am to 10.30am and for lunch, a selection of pizzas and sandwiches.

The café also has a variety of fresh cakes and ice creams, which are great for treating the children to. All of the steam trains also have a buffet car selling light refreshment and snacks so that you can travel in style. To break up the day, you can get off the train at Overton Station, which is only a short walk away from Ferry Meadows, a beautiful park with a lake and playground.

The station also has a tea room that is open on Saturday and Sunday and sells pastries that go perfectly with a hot drink. If you have time, it is worth checking out the Nene Valley Railway Museum to find out more about the history behind the railway and look at the historical railway artefacts. Whether you are trying to keep the cost low or fancy treating the family on the Bank Holiday weekend, the Nene Valley Railway will have something for everyone.

Tickets for adults cost £24 and allows your child to take the train for £1 and can be purchased here . You can take the train from any of the available stations so it is best to check which one is closest to you here . All of the stations apart from Yarwell Junction station have car parks nearby.
