"The scheme will be implemented in Nov and effective till Mar 2025 (current financial year). Under it, children will be given supplementary nutrition every Thursday.

And, if any holiday falls on Thursday, the supplementary nutrient will be given the next day. It will be offered to children before the classes begin," Basic Shiksha Akhikari (Prayagraj) Pravin Kumar Tiwari told TOI. He added that it would be offered to around 4 lakh students of classes 1-8 in around 3,800 govt schools in Prayagraj district.

"Each student will get supplementary nutrients for 19 days (there are a total of 19 Thursdays between Nov 2024 and Mar 2025) at a cost of Rs5 per child. The expenditure will be met from funds available from the state under the flexi-fund component. About Rs 59 lakh will be spent in the month of Nov," he added.
