After successfully running her online business the past two years, Asma Fareha Khan decided to invest in a retail store to meet client demand. She is the brain behind the Asma Fashion Closet showroom, located on the main street of Nadi Town. Ms Khan, originally from Punjab, India, has extensive knowledge of fashion, product ranges, and their quality.
She is married to Manuawar Khan, a well-established information technology expert from Nadi. “It has been our dream to venture into this business,” she said. “The modern setup of our store gives our customers a very cozy and comfortable shopping environment.
The concept of the shop is to make the customer feel like it’s a closet.” She added that they import unique and stylish women’s fashion wear clothing, footwear, jewellery, luxury clutches, handbags, hijabs, and accessories. Potential identified Mr Khan believes that Fiji has good potential for retail sale in the latest Indian ethnic and Indo-western clothing and accessories.
“The market is very competitive in Fiji but our focus will always be to introduce quality and unique items in the market which Fiji has not commonly seen,” he said. Currently, there is no manufacturing facility in Fiji but some of their products are customised to stand out in the market. “We have invested close to $60, 000 in setting up and stocking our showroom.
And so far we have two staff.” He added that they have plans to expand the business in the western division by opening showr.
