Kerry Washington, Tony Goldwyn, Mindy Kaling and Ana Navarro are all headed to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago to join in on the action as hosts. Each of the four stars will serve as host for each night of the four-night event. They are slated to get the evening’s festivities started before appearing on stage periodically to lead the audience through all of the scheduled programming — which includes Michelle Obama, who will be addressing the DNC in a crucial role.

Goldwyn will host Monday evening, Navarro follows him on Tuesday, Kaling will be tagged in on Wednesday, and Miss Olivia Pope herself (aka Washington) will host the final evening on Thursday. Thursday night is also when Vice President Kamala Harris , who managed to secure the Democratic presidential nomination , will officially accept the nomination. Has Kamala Harris had plastic surgery? However, not everyone is excited about the Democratic party’s decision to employ celebrities, and disgruntled critics took to social media to express their rage. Taking to X, formerly know as Twitter, one unimpressed person labeled the entire move as "cringey." "First miss to date IMO-and probably a DNC choice," the person wrote.

"Emcees at these events can be hit or miss and I fear this’ll be more cringey than helpful. I suppose the quality of hosting will be based on the quality of script (maybe they got Shonda Rhimes supervising the writing?)" Someone else referenced Scandal creator and television legend Shonda Rhimes as well, quipping: "Being deep in a Scandal rewatch makes this announcement so much funnier." Another user posited that it was a massive misstep to get celebrities involved at all, writing: "I have always suspected the relationship with Hollywood probably hurts the Dems overall.

Yes, if celebrities run for office, the fame helps them. But hanging around celebrities makes you look like you care more about elites than normies.” DON'T MISS: Kanye West pulls up at Trump rally in Cybertruck - MAGA supporters hyperventilate Trump's decade long relationship with ex-Miss Universe Olivia Culpo and Russia link 'Crazy' Robert De Niro celebrates 81st birthday with daughter Drena by jumping off a yacht Elsewhere on X, others fumed specifically over Navarro's inclusion.

"Ana Navarro isn't a 'celebrity' and isn't even a Democrat, why does the @DNC always do this s—t," someone raged. Another agreed, jokingly adding: "I hope they're printing 'She doesn't even go here!' signs for the crowd," referencing the now-iconic Mean Girls meme..
