Thiruvananthapuram/Wayanad: The Kerala Bank on Monday announced that it would write off loans of those affected by the devastating landslides in Wayanad on July 30. However, the bank is yet to ascertain the volume of loans taken by people in the affected areas and their current status. Meanwhile, one body and three body parts were recovered in search operations conducted on Monday.

One body and a body part were recovered from the Nilambur area while two body parts were found near Aanadikapp in Kanthanpara. As many as 231 bodies and 205 body parts have been recovered so far. Kerala Bank president Gopi Kottamurikkal said the bank’s director board decided to write off loans taken from its Chooralmala branch to those who were killed in the landslides and those whose mortgaged properties were destroyed in the tragedy.



The bank, a consolidation of district cooperative banks in the state, had earlier contributed Rs 50 lakh to CM’s Distress Relief Fund.
