D. Kenneth grew-up in Hopper, Illinois, and was a graduate of Stronghurst High School in Illinois. Kenneth was a Bible Teacher at Hopper Bible School, which his wife-to-be, Elsie Weaver began in Hopper, Illinois, in 1957.

This is how they met, marrying in 1958. They celebrated 66 years of marriage on Aug. 13, 2024.

Kenneth studied to be a pilot before he began his career with J. I. Case in Burlington, where he began as a welder in 1957, and finished his 35 years there as General Foreman of the Experimental Department.

Kenneth was a Scoutmaster with Boy Scouts of America, and also assisted Elsie, who led Brownie and Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts. Together with his wife Elsie, Kenneth was a master gardener, beekeeper, and raised chickens, goats, and later pigs. Using his extensive engineering talents, Kenneth designed new and innovative ways to build feeders at the Ranch.

A master draftsman and carpenter, Kenneth with his wife Elsie, designed and hand-built their home and barns on property where they reared their children in Illinois. An expert woodworker, Kenneth also built several beautiful, now family heirloom, pieces of furniture. They became Ranchers when they hand-built another home, barn, out buildings, and gardens, also in Illino.
