Kenan Thompson took the mic during Night 3 of the Democratic National Convention to both joke about and seriously educate voters on Project 2025. “You ever seen a document that could kill a small animal and democracy at the same time?” the Saturday Night Live comedian asked from the stage, holding a massive bound version of the plan composed by a group of Republicans that is said to be a blueprint for Donald Trump’s possible second term. In the 11-minute segment, Thompson plops the book down on the podium and takes video calls from voters to point out how their lives might be affected by the plan.

“On page 584, Project 2025 calls for the elimination of protections for LGBTQ+ Americans,” Thompson tells a woman named Becky, who says she’s been married to her wife for about eight years. “Right back to the stone age.” Thompson also points to provisions in Project 2025 that seek to raise prices on prescription medication, ban abortion nationwide, eliminating the Department of Education, and more.

Watch the entire skit below. Moments before Thompson took the stage, Stevie Wonder was on hand to deliver a speech to the crowd at Chicago’s United Center. “The choice is clear.

Clearer than anyone else is saying,” Wonder said. “We need to choose joy over anger, kindness over recrimination, and peace over war, every time. We must choose to be above the ugly words, the hateful anger, and the division those words and anger create.

We must keep on keeping on until we truly are a united people of these United States — and then we will reach our higher ground.”.
