When I first see Kelly Rowland, she exudes the grown and sexy vibes she's known for. In a suite at the Equinox Hotel overlooking downtown Manhattan, the multi-hyphenate looks put together in black trousers, an orange tube top, and an oversized color-blocked blouse. I was living for the look—but Rowland was quick to remind me that being grown and sexy also comes with some maintenance, especially when it comes to our skin.

As such, Rowland has teamed up with and , host of the for a live taping, which I had the pleasure of being in the audience for. During the episode, the 43-year-old wasn’t afraid to talk about the steps she takes to keep her skin looking healthy. “I've been in the spotlight and wearing makeup for over 20-something years of my life," she said.



"So I always think about, What is my skin gonna look like over time? How do I preserve and maintain healthy glowy skin? So I always think about moisture, moisture, moisture, moisture.” As we sit down to talk, Rowland reiterates the importance of self-care, especially now that motherhood is in the mix. Not only is she a singer and dancer, but she is also raising two young boys, Titan and Noah, with her husband Tim Weatherspoon.

“I really take the time to pour back into myself in the evenings because I always feel like the day takes all of your energy,” she tells . “So I do three different cleansers. I use two different serums, a moisturizer, and eye cream.

So it holds a special place for me. I love my hair when it's freshly washed and I can feel the leave-in conditioner in it, and it smells so yummy. I turn my head for a moment, and I get a whiff of it.

When I can see my little coils, that's a good feeling. Off the top? Well, to be honest, there is a conditioner by Cécred. I'm actually kind of obsessed with it.

It's in the jar and it smells so good. I remember there was another product years ago when my mama—well, Tina [Knowles]—first started doing my hair. I get the same feeling that I felt when I first smelled that product as when I smell this one.
