Afrobeat has indeed evolved from the time it was pioneered by the legendary Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti to the present level where it is now globally accepted. Over the years, talented music artistes has blended several beats and sounds with Afrobeat to create, not just to sound different but to create their own genre and make interesting music. It is evident that the sounds, music stars like Psqaure, Tuface, Djinee, 9ice, Olu Maintain, even Dbanj served more than one decade ago have changed in the hands of the new generation musicians, like SHALLIPOPI, Rema, Asake that are holding the world spellbound with their trending music.

Some of the rhythm and beats have also become faster like that of Ghanaian Dj Bentoa’s ‘Yeshua Dance Cruise’ or medium tempo like Muyeez and seyi vibes’ song ‘Instagram’.. it seems hard to keep up for a few music artistes who have not dropped new albums or singles in a long time.

According to a source, the Afrobeat Radio, Wahala FM which will hit the airwaves on September 1, 2024 is like Afrobeat coming to America, and, no surprise, it is predominantly aimed at Nigerians and others who love the steaming sounds coming from Africa. An Afrobeat radion on the airwaves of America, will be like serving Afrobeat lovers musical menu of varieties tastes. It can rekindle a catalog of tracks long forgotten but still in memory.

This set to launched Afrobeat radio station, Wahala FM is founded by Nigerian Musician and Journalist Etcetera Ejikeme. Sunday Telegraph reached out to Etcetera Ejikeme to confirm the information, and this is what he said. “I am not sure a lot of my friends can still remember that I used to have a show on one of Nigeria’s finest radio stations, Top Radio 90.

9 FM, back in the day before I moved here to the United States. So It feels good to be back on radio. One thing I have come to realize from my life’s journey so far is that, life has an amazing way of showing you signs and dropping seeds and coming in full circle.
